About CSAT

Since 1978, Cooper Spur Alpine Team has provided our community with a program designed to develop youth ski racing. Staring in 2011 CSAT expanded programming to offer youth Mountain Bike skill development and Freeride/Freestyle skiing. CSAT offers an ideal program for children of all ages who want to become expert, all-mountain, and life long skiers and Mountain Bikers, while having fun and learning to compete.

CSAT’s coaching staff is dedicated to helping racers at all levels achieve their ski and biking goals. However, excellence in skiing and competition is only part of our mission. Our programs help youth develop important life skills and values such as cooperation, teamwork, positive attitude, honesty, and dedication. We also pride ourselves in producing some of the top racers in the Pacific Northwest.

CSAT is not owned or operated by Cooper Spur Ski Area. We are an independent entity who conducts its programs at the resort and is supported by the ski area with grooming services, storage facilities, and trail closures for racing. CSAT is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) volunteer organization comprised of racers, their parents, coaches, and alumni. Program fees pay for approximately 60% of our expenditures. The remainder of our budget depends entirely upon fund raising activities, donations and business sponsorship. Cooper Spur Alpine Team relies upon ongoing financial support from donors and local businesses. This allows us to sustain operations, continue to offer affordable programs and expand our program offerings.

CSAT has an average of 160 participants per ski season, and  150 Mountain Bike partcipants throughout summer, spring and fall. CSAT hosts 3 major ski events each year at Cooper Spur Ski Area or Mt Hood Meadows, drawing over 350 competitors and their families from all over the Pacific Northwest region. These events are the annual Cooper Camp, Cooper Cup in December and Cooper Duel SL Race in February. In the summer CSAT hosts the Post Canyon Challenge Youth Bike Jamboree in August with over 150 Portland and Hood River competitors and families participating.

Business and corporate sponsors are critical in helping Cooper Spur Alpine Team achieve its mission to create athletes that are competitive at all ski racing levels. The generosity of our sponsors keeps program fees at accessible levels for all athletes in our community. Fees paid by participants only partially cover the costs of the coaching staff. Additional funds are needed and are essential to every aspect of our program from racing and timing equipment to providing athletic scholarships. Your sponsorship of CSAT would provide you with an exceptional access to a large target market of active outdoor oriented consumers. Most importantly, as a sponsor of CSAT you make it possible for our youth to enjoy a fun and healthy activity at affordable prices. All donations are tax deductible.

In consideration for your donation, we thank you for joining us in the pursuit of helping our young people grow and reach for their goals. If your business is interested in becoming a sponsor of the Cooper Spur Alpine Team please contact contact Shana Sweitzer: csat@gorge.net
